Ca' d'Zan (House of John) .... The Sarasota Bay home of John Ringling.

Ca' d'Zan (House of John) is the palatial mansion built by John Ringling, inspired by
Venetian Palazzi so admired by his wife, Mable, during the couple's European trips.
The circus master's estate on Sarasota Bay beautifully incorporates stucco, terracotta
and stained glass reflecting a Venetian aura.

John Ringling, who performed with his brothers on the family's Iowa farm at the age of
five, became the driving force in creating "The Greatest Show on Earth" ~ The Ringling
Brothers & Barnum and Bailey Circus.  He is also largely credited with stimulating
development of the Sarasota Bay area of Florida's west coast in the 1920's. Today the
mansion, art collection and circus museum attract visitors to Sarasota from around the world.

It has been many years since I have visited there
but I do remember being very impressed.
The home, the incredible art collection,
the gardens, and the Ringling museum were
all so very memorable. I will have to visit
again someday. Thanks for the memory.
