The tradition rich Gerbeaud Café has been prominent on Budapest's Vorosmarty Sq. since 1858.
Its' selection of exquisite pastries, liqueur bon-bons, leaf teas, espresso and coffees together with the elegant décor of rich woods, marble, crystal, mirrors and tapestries have made it a gathering place for notables throughout its' history. Frequenting the Gerbeaud were Empress Elizabeth (Sissi) of Austria, King George of Great Britain, Princess Diana, Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands, former Czech president Vaclav Havel and celebs; Madonna, Antonio Banderas, Brad Pitt and many, many more.
While seated in the Gerbeaud, enveloped in its' grandeur and history, the softened, crackly sounds
of Margaret Whiting's "Far Away Places" from the 40's could be faintly heard in the background.

Thoughts of "Far Away Places" brought a smile. Life is good!

A perfect afternoon. A sip, sweets and sun. |
An elegant décor with the ambience of a more genteel era. |
Savoring the moment with an Amerikai Kafe and Esterhazy Torte. |
